The Life Map is a tool to help you find your way. It encourages you to think about what truly matters to you/your client and what might be holding you back. By using this map, you/your client can gain clarity and begin to take steps toward a life that is meaningful and aligned with your values.
The map has four key parts:
- Who and what is most important to you? This is the heart of the map, your values, goals, and the kind of person you want to be.
- What gets in the way? This section helps you identify the difficult thoughts, feelings, and memories that might act as roadblocks on your journey.
- What do you do to move away? This is about recognizing the unhelpful behaviors you use to avoid discomfort, even when they lead you away from what’s important.
- What could you do to move toward? This is your action plan. Here, you list the steps you can take to move toward your values, even with difficult feelings present.
This worksheet is a great way to help clients see their entire journey, the road ahead, the obstacles, and the choices they make, in a single, powerful image.
